I don’t want this to turn into a media recap, but man— but this week really got to me. These back-to-back losses made me pause. And I couldn’t help but ask the question:
What is it all for?
We chase goals. Hustle hard. Build. Grow.But lately, I keep thinking... if we’re not feeling it while we’re doing it, are we really living it?
I know, I know—“It’s about the journey, not the destination.”So cliché I hate even saying it.
But I said something to a friend this week that stuck with me:“I know the lessons are in the journey… but wouldn’t it be nice if we could just skip the hard parts?”
My friend said,“Have you ever seen that movie Click?”
(Spoiler: I haven’t.)
In the movie, Adam Sandler gets a magical remote to fast-forward through all the tough stuff—stress, setbacks, messiness. Until one day… he’s watching his own funeral. He skipped so much, he missed everything that mattered. And that hit me.
Because even though I preach vision and goals and purpose, I still get caught in the loop. The list. The rush. The what’s next.
So here’s what I’m sitting with:The goal isn’t the prize.This—this messy, meaningful middle—is. And maybe that’s why journaling keeps finding me lately.Not for content. Not for clarity.But for connection—with myself.
Everyone’s talking about it—Gabby Bernstein. Jessie Seltzer. Jamie Kern Lima. I’ve done the breath work, the binaural beats, the meditations…But journaling? I never slowed down long enough to actually feel. But that’s the shift. Because the most grounded leaders I know? Oprah. Tim Ferriss. Richard Branson. They journal—not for the trend. For the transformation.
So I’m starting today. Not because I need another habit.But because I want to force less, and feel more. If you’ve been feeling the nudge too? Maybe this is your sign. Journaling club, anyone?
