September Reset: Your 90-Day Fall Plan

Updated: 5 days ago

"Small resets move big years."

🖤 From Jen: The Fresh Start Effect.

Hey BEAUTISTA Fam,

This week was school-supply chaos in my house—one kid off to high school, the other to middle—and I went on an all out cleaning & clearing spree. Garage, drawers, old furniture… gone. There’s a reason it feels good.

Psychologists call it the fresh start effect. When a new chapter begins (a school year, a new month, even a Monday), our brains draw a line between “then” and “now.” You can see little bumps right after these “first days”—more searches for healthy habits, more gym check-ins, more people finally starting the thing they’ve been thinking about. Small lifts, but real ones. And yes—September “back to school” is one of those shifts. Clients feel it. Teams feel it. Schools and brands feel it. People are more open to change when the calendar turns.

So speak to it. Name the new page—“September Reset,” “Back to You,” “Fall Glow-Up.”

In 20+ years in this industry, September, October, and November never disappoint—they’re the months that beat revenue goals. Get ready for the shift, say it out loud, and let it carry you into a strong finish.

Here’s to clean garages, sharpened pencils, and the quiet confidence of a real reset.

xoxo

🚀 The Shift:  Weekly Mindset + Strategy Upgrade.

90-Day Fresh Start Plan (Fall Profit Play)

1) Pick a name + promise (it frames your fall).Use one theme everywhere: “September Reset,” “Back to You,” “Fall Glow-Up.”Promise one simple outcome: “Shinier color + easy upkeep,” “Apply in 5 taps,” “CE seats are coming.”

2) Make one “hero offer” (keep it obvious).

  • If you serve clients: Cut + Gloss + 10-min Scalp Check (or your best quick refresh bundle).

  • If you’re hiring: Apply with BEAUTISTA in ≤5 taps + 10-min intro call within 48 hours.

  • If you teach (school/brand): “Back-to-School Live Class” teaser with who it’s for + what they’ll learn (CE coming).

3) Set your dates now (ride fresh-start moments).Push twice each month on “first days”:

  • Sept: Week after Labor Day + Oct-Eve (9/9 & 9/30)

  • Oct: 10/1 + mid-month (10/15)

  • Nov: 11/1 + early-holiday push (11/12)These are the weeks people are most open to change—meet them there.

4) Show the proof (what a reset looks like).Prep 3 assets you’ll reuse all fall:

  • A before/after that screams “fresh start”

  • A 20-sec tip video that reduces fear (“how to keep shine for 4–6 weeks”)

  • A review screenshot + 10-sec reaction clip (clients/hiring/education)

5) Make it easy to act (≤5 taps). One clear call to action only: Book Consult or Apply on BEAUTISTA.No dead-end pages. No “upload resume.” Auto-reply: “Got it—here’s what happens next.”

6) Post the same message in all your places (same day).Email subject, IG caption, Stories, and your BEAUTISTA link should match the theme + promise. Consistency = trust.

7) Check one number weekly (and adjust).

  • Clients: booked consults

  • Hiring: Interviews Scheduled

  • Education: sign-ups / interest DMsIf it’s flat, swap the headline or the offer—don’t wait a month.

Fresh page. One theme. One offer. Two pushes a month. Make it easy to act. That’s how you turn a calendar shift into a revenue shift.

Replay: Preparing Students for Real Hiring (with Bobbi Powell)

Recorded back when we were Canvas Me—and still gold. In this conversation, we get practical about turning portfolios into placement, aligning classwork with what employers actually ask for, and building a repeatable bridge from classroom to career.

Why watch (leadership lens):

  • How to make portfolio publishing a habit (not a one-off assignment)

  • What employers really want to see in proof-of-work

  • Simple ways to track career services outcomes without extra admin

  • How to spark faculty buy-in and keep momentum after launch

Pro tip: Watch with your leadership team and pick one change you’ll test this month (portfolio cadence, employer outreach, or placement tracking).

💻 Tech-Forward:

Where tech meets beauty (and your next big move begins).

1) Make a “September Reset” button everywhere (5 taps or less)Give people one obvious action when they feel the reset.

Make it real (15–20 min):

  • Create a “September Reset” service in your booking app (cut + gloss + 10-min scalp check, or your best refresh). Add price + time + short promise.

  • Copy that booking link → put it as your IG Action Button (Edit Profile → Action Buttons) and as the top button on your BEAUTISTA portfolio (“Book the September Reset”).

  • Open Google Business Profile → add the service in Services, paste the booking link, and post an Update: “Back-to-School, Back-to-You—Book your September Reset.”

💬 What We've Learned from Hiring Funnels

Here’s what we’ve seen across lots of hiring campaigns (last 10 weeks):

  • DM-first opens doors. “DM APPLY” consistently sparks steady, real conversations.

  • Speed wins. Auto-replies that offer a 10-min intro link within minutes book calls the same day and cut ghosting.

  • Portfolio-first converts. One path—Apply with your BEAUTISTA Portfolio (≤5 taps)—beats resume uploads every time.

  • Prequal → Hire is efficient. In a recent run, 1 in 4 prequalified candidates became a hire; across campaigns, prescreen-to-hire sits in the low double-digits when follow-ups are tight.

  • Proof > polish. A simple owner selfie video (hook first, quick highlights) outperforms glossy ads.

👀 Apprenticeship Spotlight

Shear Images Salon , 📍 New Market, MD — Apprenticeship (Now Hiring)

Some salons talk about “growing talent.” This one is putting it front and center: they’ve shifted their hiring focus to an apprenticeship track, which means students and new grads can step in, learn, and level up with real mentorship.

Why this matters (especially in Sept–Nov):Fall is a fresh-start season and the busiest stretch of the year. An apprenticeship gets you inside a high-traffic salon now, with guided training, real client exposure, and a path to the chair.

Who it’s for:

  • Beauty students / recent grads building confidence

  • Pros returning after a break who want a skills refresh

  • Anyone who prefers a learn-while-you-earn path over “sink or swim”

How to apply:

  • Your BEAUTISTA portfolio (3+ before/afters, a 20–30s intro clip, and your availability)

  • A short note on what you want to master first this fall.
