Hey BEAUTISTA Fam,
When I feel stuck, I put on my headphones and walk the wooded trail by our house. I do a simple walking meditation: name what I’m grateful for. Most days it’s my family, our health—and honestly, that I get to walk under trees and breathe. It’s like magic. Ten minutes later, the day feels different.
I know that sounds a little woo-woo. But science backs it. Psychologists like Robert Emmons and Martin Seligman have shown that tiny gratitude practices are linked to better mood, lower stress, and even better sleep. The point isn’t to pretend the hard stuff isn’t hard. It’s to widen your view so you can move through it.
Here’s what I notice on those walks: the trees feel like they hold wisdom, and I can “talk” to my future self. I choose to believe first—believe I’m being guided and that clarity is coming—and then I start to see the steps.
Try this with me this week: when you feel stuck, take a 10-minute gratitude walk.
Name three ordinary things you’re grateful for.
Think of one person to thank today (send the text later).
Ask your future self one question: “What’s my next micro step?”
No perfection. Just a small pause that tilts the day in the right direction.
